Eleonore Kofman and Helena Wray sent in a submission  to the Family Migration Inquiry being conducted by the All Party Parliamentary Group on Migration. The first hearing was held on 11 February 2013, the second, at which Helena will be a witness, will be held on 4 March.  Their paper addresses two related issues, namely the key equality implications arising from the new minimum income threshold of £18,600 required of British residents and citizens  wishing to sponsor the settlement of a partner of non-European Economic Area nationality to the UK and the claim that the minimum income requirement will reduce the burden on taxpayers.
